Infopedia is launched at Microsoft Ignite

Whilst I worked at Microsoft one resource we all used continually was a knowledge management portal known internally as “Infopedia”.  It was a search driven SharePoint portal that allowed you to find information (documents, presentation and experts) on pretty much everything.  Back in those days it was a combination of search results and pages that were curated by subject matter experts (a little like WikiPedia). At Ignite last week Microsoft announced a new “Microsite” (a term they are using for new site templates that will be available in the coming months) that is to be called “Infopedia” and it looks like it will be very capable in allowing organisations to manage their knowledge. Although some of the details are not finalised it looks like the search will be driven by the social graph (Delve) and will combine social content with documents in a framework for management. Office 365 users of SharePoint will see this new feature first of course.  I’m looking forward to taking a look and I’ll write another blog as soon as this is available on Office 365.
